About Lingufy

Lingufy is a daily, vocabulary-first language-learning app — and a blog about what actually helps words stick. Here’s who’s behind it and how we research what we publish.

The editor

Abdullah Oğuz is the founder & editor, lingufy. Abdullah Oğuz is the founder of Lingufy. He has spent years building language-learning tools and writes about vocabulary, memory, and the science of spaced repetition — with a focus on what actually helps people remember words for good.

What Lingufy is

Lingufy teaches 5000+ high-frequency words across 12+ languages using smart flashcards, an on-device spaced-repetition algorithm, interactive exercises, and home-screen widgets. Everything — words, examples, pronunciations, and the review scheduling — works fully offline. It’s free on iOS and Android.

How we research the blog

Our guides are grounded in established cognitive-science research on memory — the spacing effect, the forgetting curve, and retrieval practice — and in hands-on experience building and testing a real vocabulary app used by learners every day. When we compare other apps, we aim to be honest about their genuine strengths, not just to promote our own. We update articles as products and best practices change, and every post shows its publish and update dates.
